Passive architecture draws its energy from the whole of its surroundings by means of its own correct discipline. It does not manage, however, to satisfy all comfort needs during extreme seasonal weather, thus requiring and extra amount of energy expenditure via other technologies known as active ones, produced by specific technologies.
These forms of energy may be, as in the case of passive reception, renewable (solar, wind, hydraulic, geothermal, aerothermal …) or non-renewable (fossil fuels …)
Technological and cultural progress demands for ethical reasons the provision of renewable energy whenever possible and, if that proves insufficient or unacceptable, the use of other energy sources with highly-efficient installations, always with the objective of consuming the essential.
